This water filter is designed to fit all Whirpool fridges that have cartridges fitting in the base grille. As well as fitting various Whirlpool fridge freezers, it will fit a range of side-by-side refrigerator models from a variety of brands including Admiral, Amana, KitchenAid and Maytag.
This cartridge greatly improves the taste of domestic mains water by removing common contaminants. It conforms to EU directive 1935/2004, meaning it is manufactured from food safe materials.
The Whirlpool range of cartridges are designed to be replaced every six months or when the 'replace cartridge' light comes on (if fitted). If the fridge remains unused for any period of time greater than two weeks (e.g. moving house), the manufacturer recommends changing the cartridge.

When I fitted the new cartridge, the display flashed until I had upped the temperatures and then the flashing stopped. When, the next day, I tried to change the numbers back to the settings I had used before, the flashing started again!

By display if you mean the filter light indicator this has to be manually reset on ALL whirlpool fridges (please refer to your product manual for the exact procedure).
If you mean the entire display (i.e. everything) then the chances are you have a fault with the fridge - which given how the weather has suddenly changed is certainly one of the times fridges can develop faults. If you give Whirlpool tech a call I\'m sure they\'ll be able to help
Clearly though these cartridges are not electrical in origin so these are highly unlikely to cause a fault with any product!
